Day 2 - First Impressions

So, it’s decided. I am moving to Cagliari. I am completely serious, so please do not even try to talk me out of it. This place is perfect. Between beautiful scenery, delicious food and the perpetual sun, this is everything I could hope for and more. Even though the past two days would be considered “bad weather” to Sardinians, I will tale 65 and breezy over 30 and rainy any day. Also, the people here just seem so cool. They all stride around in their leather jackets and dark sunglasses, while taking their time to enjoy what the day has to offer. Honestly they know how to live: starting off with the classic Italian breakfast of a cappuccino and crossoint, enjoying all two hours of their lunch, then winding down with un aperitivo after work. It gets even better though, because no matter how much gelato you eat, you are bound to stay in shape since you have to walk up and down several hills if you want to go anywhere. This is a lifestyle I can get behind.

Another bonus about living in Sardinia is all of the renewable energy. While Annalisa took us around Cagliari, shouting us how it one of the largest coastlines in all of Europe, you could see the waste to energ plant and wind turbines along the horizon. To me, they are almost as beautiful as the sparkling blue ocean. In class, we learned all about MSW and waste-to-energy, so I have learned to appreciate waste management systems quite dearly. All in all, I cannot wait to learn more on this dialogue and explore more of this island!
